In the course of human life one has to be ruled to prevent
chaos, fighting, and disorder just to name a few. Through
out human history people have been ruled voluntarily and
involuntarily by powerful leaders. Some of those leaders are
not highly looked upon by the inhabitants of that region or of
the world for doing good, but for making their entire
population accomplish one goal. Goals are what set in power
different forms of governments. Goals to control the world,
or be the best military power are not always met, and the
success comes only if they strive for it. Many Governments
have spent lots of money and time and work force to
accomplish a task but never reach it.
For example, Germany, a fascist country wanted to control
the world but failed to. As one can see it is no easy task. but
what does help the country is the form of government. It
could be an anarchy, communist, democratic, one-party
state, theocratic, monarchy, militaristic government,
dictatorship, or a fascist country. But, each of these forms of
governments has its own ups and downs. This book talks
about a girl trying to please her dead mother by finding a job.
Each place she goes she finds a different ruling style.
Lesley woke up to another sunny day. It was just an ordinary
day, people walking on the street, birds chirping in the trees ,
and and cars zooming by outside of her house. But one thing
just did not seem right for Lesley, it was her lack of a job.
Ever since she was a little girl her mom had said “When you
grow up, get a job, you’ll need it.” Remembering what her
mom had said, Lesley felt a bit sad that she was letting her
mom down so she decided to get dressed and headed to the
kitchen for breakfast. She opened the fridge to pull out some
milk and realized her fridge was empty “ I guess I’ll just have
to go hungry today” she said. She put on her warm coat and
headed outside down to Bells Street where the government
work agency was.
Lesley opened the door and was greeted by the clerk and her
assistant who sat at the counter. "Are you looking for a job?"
the clerk asked. "Yes I am" said Lesley eagerly. "Well... what
type of job do you want?" said the clerk. "Any job will do"
replied Lesley. "Well we have a job in the back opening boxes
if you want it" said the assistant but was soon interrupted by
the clerk who said "We can't give her the job she's not fit for
it" Pretty soon both employees were in an argument over
whether Lesley was fit for the job or not. After ten minutes of
of listening to the employees argue she walked to the door and
left thinking funny how neither could agree with the other I
guess I'll just have to look somewhere else for a job. She then
decided to go downtown to look for a job because she could
not think of anywhere better to go.
When she arrived she was greeted by the Coca-Cola
headquarters sign. I am sure they will have a job for me there
she thought. She entered and was greeted by the owner,
"What do you want" he said in a rude, arrogant tone. "I would
like a job" said Lesley, this time a bit frightened. "Well we
don't want you here" replied the owner, not listening to his
adviser's plead to hire Lesley. And without another thought
Lesley left. Well they sure aren't welcoming she thought. "I'll
just head down to my neighbor, John's, gasoline station, he
knows me, I'm sure he'll give me a job" she said to herself as
she boarded the bus to go to the gasoline station.
"Hey John" lesley said excitedly as she walked through the
glass sliding doors. "Hi" replied John, "How can I help you?"
"Well I'm looking for a job and so far everyone has turned me
down I was wondering if you could hire me" Lesley said hoping
that he would say yes. "Uh...sure I would love to, let me just
fill out this application and I'll send it to my board so they can
vote on it, I'll let you know in a couple of days" said John.
Lesley happily replied with a thank you and asked John if he
recommended and other places to try for a job. "Yes, try
down at the beach, I'm sure there will be a job there for you"
replied John. So Lesley headed off to the beach, but not
before packing her swimsuit and goggles.
When Lesley got off the bus she was amazed by the warmth
and freshness of the air. She then made her way quickly to
the Local Grocery Store. Lesley walked in and asked the
manager if she could have a job. "I'll have to ask my boss"
said the manager. As the manager went to go find his boss
Lesley shopped for some groceries. Lesley was at the register
when the manager came and said "Well, I'm so sorry I
personally would have hired you but, the boss has the final
word here." "Oh, it's OK, where else would you recommend
looking for a job?" Lesley asked. "If I where you I would go to
the Pirate's Lodge, hopefully you'll find a job there" and with
that the manager went back to work. Lesley left feeling sad
and she thought Their boss must really enforce his domain
over them to make them obey only him. Well, I'm a little bit
glad I did not get a job there, I will take the man's advice and
go to the Pirate's Lodge. With that she started walking
towards the docks
Lesley soon found herself at the Pirate's Lodge. "Good
Moarrrrning how cans I helps yous" said the pirate. "I'm
looking for a job" replied Lesley. "Well... and with that all the
Lodge shouted captain we are under attack. Poor Lesley did
not now what to do so she just walked to a corner and sat
down. Lesley was so frightened by all the noise and fighting
that she just shut everything out. Once the battle stopped the
captain said "My god just told me in a vision that you are unfit
by his criteria for this job. I am sorry but you will have to look
some where else" then the Pirates all dissappeared into their
lair where they sarted singing. Poor Lesley satrted crying "I'm
done with this" she shouted. She ran out of the Lodge and
down into the street. "I think I'll just go to the country side"
she said to herself out loud. She got on the bus again and
headed far away.
When Lesley got to the small village she was delighted by
seeing all the little children playing in the lawn, and by all the
beautiful little houses. She was so overjoyed that she
completely forgot she was looking for a job until, an old farmer
walked up to her and said "Little lady why are you here?"
"Well you see I got turned down every time I asked for a job
in the city so, I decided to come to the country side" said
Lesley. "Well I'm not going to promise anything but I could
take you to the chief and he could give a job" replied the old
farmer. "Why that would be great" Lesley cheerfully said.
When they arrived at the chief's house Lesley asked if she
could have a job. "I can not give you a job, but if you go to
the ski slopes I think they will" said the chief. "Thanks
anyway" Lesley said and she left and headed for the ski slopes
thinking that was a nice little town I would have loved to lived
there, but there was the chied, he did not seem to nice. Oh
well.
