Plan your meals. Make a shopping list and stick to it, and avoid impulse buys. Not only will you waste less food, you’ll also save money!

If you don’t eat everything you make, freeze it for later or use the leftovers as an ingredient in another meal.

Be smart about storing food. Keep raw foods and cook foods separate, and store cooked food above raw food in refrigerators to reduce the risk of contamination. 

Compost any uneaten food – apple cores, banana peels...This will help divert food waste away from landfills and actually benefits the soil to help provide nutrients for plant growth. 

Don’t judge food by its appearance! Oddly-shaped or bruised fruits and vegetables are often thrown away because they don’t meet  cosmetic standards. You can use mature fruit for smoothies, juices and desserts.
