As a consumer, you don't want to get ripped off and buy something for more than its retail value. 

Whenever you buy something I advise you to always check two places. eBay and Fanatics.

Check eBay if you want to know the market value of an item and check Fanatics if you want to know the retail value of an item.

The final item of information that you need to know is when you're getting items signed if you are using the right writing tool. 

Using the correct writing tool on the appropriate item is important because it will affect the value of the item

The writing tool you want to use to get baseballs signed is a blue ballpoint pen.

For Football helmets, you want to use a sharpie and for footballs, you want to use a silver paint pen.

For basketballs, you want to use a silver sharpie and for all jerseys use a black or silver sharpie depending on the color of the number.
