Mrs. Osborne and her staff are ready to greet the children as they arrive to the classroom from 7:45-8:00 AM.
Upon entry, the children wash their hands, place their belongings in their cubbies and sign-in for the day. This is great practice for handwriting and prepares them for Kindergarten.

Once all of the children have arrived, the students sit on their specified colored spot for the morning meeting. Their colors will change each week to ensure the children are able to recognize all of the colors of the rainbow.
During the morning meeting, the class will go over the schedule for the day. Times will be discussed so that the children better understand routines and expectations.

MORNING MEETING
During the morning meeting, the children will tell stories with at least two events. It will be in a conversational means where the teachers and students engage, ask questions, and retell to show comprehension.
Additionally, the daily schedule will be shared.
Finally, the students will transition to breakfast prep while listening to number blocks songs to help them learn numbers 1-20.

READING
Reading will start with a large group lesson. The students will return to their colored squares. The teacher will sit in the rocking chair to read the 8-15 minute book-of-the day.
After finishing, the class will discuss the important details and lessons learned before breaking into small groups.
Small groups will consist of art (using colors and shapes to retell the story).

MATH
Similar to the reading lesson, math will start in the large group.
The lesson will be interactive and focus on numbers 1-10 for the first semester and 1-20 the second semester. There will be songs, dance, and hands-on lessons.
Next, small group will incorporate conversation, toys, props, and art to reinforce the lessons.

SPECIALS
Music:
This weeks specials are all based around music (art, music, gym)
The children will learn a rhyming song and use it in song, dance, theater, art, and gym.
Activities will include collages of rhyming art, rhyming hopscotch and tag, and preparing for a musical performance for family and friends.
MEALS
Meals are a great time to reinforce lessons and milestones.
All classroom meals will be family style in order to work on relationships, sharing, and serving.
The teachers will sit (and optionally eat) with the students.
They will practice counting food and discussing colors, tastes, and textures.
This is also a great time to share stories (real or made up).
Friends, family, community helpers, and employees throughout the school will be invited when possible to join us for meals.
