The name Oregon comes from Ouragon, the
River of the West. This refers to the Columbia
River.
Oregon entered the United States on February
14, 1859, and was the 33rd state admitted.
Oregon has a population of 3,899,353 and is
ranked 27th in population.
Oregon has an area of 98,381 square miles
and is ranked 9th in size.
Oregon is home to a variety of landforms. Here is the Willamette Valley.
The Cascade mountains include Mount Rainier.
Oregon's scenic coast borders the Pacific Ocean.
