Canyons

A Solid And Dry Place!

A canyon is a narrow deep valley made of solid rock.

Canyons can form to be a larger size than 5 entire factories!

Canyons have long rivers that stretch across them, providing water and making it a great habitat to live in.

Fun Fact

The Grand Canyon in Arizona USA stretches 18 miles across at it's widest point!

Wildlife In The Canyon

Many mammals, reptiles and birds live in canyons such as mountain lions, gray foxes, spiny lizards and canyon wren. 

Each one of these animals have a unique way of surviving. 

This is what we call adaptations.

Adaptations include structural adaptations and behavioral adaptations.

Structural adaptations are a part of their body that helps them survive in the wild.

Behavioral adaptations are an instinct that they know they need to do in order to survive in the wild.

How Are Canyons Formed?

The movement of rivers, the process of weathering, erosion and tectonic activity create canyons. The most familiar type of canyon is probably the river canyon. The water pressure of a river can cut deep into a river bed. Sediments from the river bed are carried downstream, creating a deep, narrow area.

Grasslands

In The Grasslands

The grasslands is a dry area where you could spot some well known animals like a tall giraffe or a huge elephant.

Grasslands can be found in East Africa, Australia, south of Sahara and much more areas.

Fire is necessary for grassland health.

Every land that has a darker shade of green is grassland.

Grasslands are found where there is not enough regular rainfall to support the growth of a rainforest, but not so little a desert forms. In fact, grasslands often lie between forests and deserts. Depending on how they're defined, grasslands take up between 20 and 40 percent of the world's land area.

The zebra has white and black stripes but scientists still don't know what they're for.

              A Freezing Place!

The Tundra is an amazing place to visit but keep in mind that the Tundra is a freezing place to be! Many creatures both big and small live in this snowy area but they have their own ways of survival and they're not willing to share them with you!

Tundra Animals

Many interesting animals await you in the Tundra! From big to small, predator and prey all of these animals cope to survive in this harsh environment all though some don't live the numbers go up and down.

A rainforest is a wet, warm and bright colored place where around half of the world's living things are.

Rainforests make an exotic place to live in but although everything looks fine, some things could be deadly predators that you wouldn't expect to be preying on others!

Animals In The Rainforest

The rainforest has 4 layers in which animals live.

The first layer is the forest floor where all the animals stay low. This includes some bugs, leopards, tigers, anteaters and more.

The second layer is called the understory. Some flying animals and climbing creatures limit their boundaries at this height.

The third layer is called the canopy where most of the wildlife in the rainforest lives. Such as toucans, sloths and butterflies.

The last layer is called the emergent layer this is where rainforest birds, eagles and monkeys stay.
