Ecuador is a multicultural country made up of indigenous, mestizo and Afro-descendant populations; Multi-culturality is recognized through respect and involvement in its festivities, rituals, astronomy, architecture, engineering, gastronomy, medicine, art, music, dance, clothing.

The cultural diversity of Ecuador has its roots in the influences that the different peoples have left after passing through its territory over the centuries.

The most representative nationality is the Kichwa, followed by the Shuar. Geography affects the predominance of indigenous populations, where the Amazon is found the largest number of territories, followed by the Sierra and finally the Coast. The Montuvio and Afro-Ecuadorian people are characterized by their own cultural formations in terms of economy, politics and historical processes.
The indigenous communities of Ecuador are for the most part integrated into the established culture at different levels, but some communities still practice their own customs, particularly in the more remote basin tradition.

Ecuador is part of the Andean cultural area, one of the highest points of civilization development on the planet. For this reason there are many traditional festivals that have remote pre-Hispanic beautiful origins, at the same time that they have been able to enrich themselves with various elements of the Mediterranean traditions that the Spanish colonizers brought.
