The Tennis Court Oath
The Tennis court oath was an event in June of 1778 were deputies of the third estate and commoners met at an indoor tennis court in France called Jue de Paume and agreed to not disband until a new constitution was adopted. This event was so significant in the French revolution because it showed King Louis XVI that the people were restless. It also shaped and laid the foundation fro later events in the revolution.
The Storming of the Bastille
The Storming of the Bastille was a memorable event in July of 1789 where a state prison on the east side of Paris known as the Bastille, was attacked by an angry mob. Mostly craftsmen and store owners were involved. This event symbolically marked the start of the French Revolution. 82 revolutionaries had been killed with 15 others died later due to injuries.
The women's march
On October 5th 1789 crowds of Paris women marched on Versailles demanding reforms. The besieged the place and forced king Louis XVI of France to move return back to Paris. This was significant in the revolution because it forced the royals to move from the traditional seat of government in Versailles to Paris.
Execution of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette
King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were on trial for treason. Louis had failed to address France's financial problems instigating the french revolution. They were also looked at as traitors for trying to leave. This was important because it symbolized the end of absolute monarchy in France and the beginning of a democracy.
