Ellie’s first day of school is tomorrow and she is nervous because this is the first time she will be leaving her mom.

“I do not want to go to school. I am scared to go all by myself.” Ellie said to her mom. “I want to stay home with you and play with toys. Can I please stay with you?”

“I know it is scary leaving us for the first time,” said Ellie’s mom. “Sometimes we have to do things we do not want to do. But I am sure once you go to school you will love it and have fun. You will make new friends and play fun games with them!”

“Is there any other reason you do not want to go to school?” Ellie’s mom asked her. 

Ellie was scared to say the real reason she did not want to go. However, after a couple of seconds, Ellie told her mom. “I do not want to go to school because I am afraid, I am not going to know how to do the things that the teacher wants me to do,” said Ellie.

“I am sure that if you ask the teacher for help, she will not judge you but instead want to help you.” Ellie’s mom said with a smile. Ellie then hugged her mom and went to bed. 

After a good night’s rest, Ellie’s mom went and woke her up.

“Time to get up for school!” Ellie’s mom said to her. “We do not want to be late.” 

Ellie then went and got dressed and headed downstairs to get in the car and drive to school.

When Ellie and her mom arrived at school, Ellie’s mom gave her and big hug and said goodbye. “I hope you have a great day of school!” Ellie’s mom said to her. Ellie then walked into the school.

Ellie’s teacher, Mrs. Johnson, greeted her at the door. 

“Happy first day of school!” Mrs. Johnson said to Ellie. “You can go set your backpack in your cubby and go find a seat.”

While Ellie was finding a place to sit, a friendly person came by and said, “Hi I’m Max! would you like to sit next to me?”

“Sure,” Ellie said to Max. While Ellie and Max were walking to their seats Ellie thought to herself “Maybe school won’t be so bad”.

“Hello class,” said Mrs. Johnson "I am excited you are all here. We are going to have a great year.”

“We are going to learn our ABCs and 1,2,3’S as well as how to read and write”

When Ellie heard about all of the things she was going to learn, she become more scared. This was because all of this information was new, and she did know how she was going to learn all of this by the end of the school year.
