"It's time for your first day at school Kirsten," said mum.

"I don't want to go mum," Kirsten replied "It's scary and I don't know anyone."

Kirsten was scared as they left home to go to school.

As Kirsten and her mum were walking to school, her mum tried to make her feel better.

"It's going to be ok Kirsten, you can make friends."

"Can you stay at school with me mum?" Kirsten asked.

When Kirsten and her mum got to the classroom, it was time for Kirsten's mum to go to work.

"Okay Kirsten, I have to leave now, be good and have fun."

"No, please don't go mum," Kirsten said sadly.

"I have to go to work," her mum said.

"No, please stay and play with me," Kirsten asked.

As Kirsten and her mum were talking, another little girl, Rowan, heard what they were saying.

Kirsten was feeling scared, and sad because it was her first day at school. She had never been there before, and she didn't want her mum to leave.
