In 1900, the first sneaker, or all-purpose athletic shoe,
was designed. Made primarily of canvas, this sneaker

done by hand until the year 1833 so, there
was a lot of work involved in creating all the
different pairs of shoes you’d find in a store
at the time.

Kevlar is used for the main part of the shoe
because it is ten times the strength of
leather. The leather canvas is used to form
the shoe because it is stable, thin and has a
low density. The foam-blown polyurethane
gives the shoe extra cushioning and makes it
more comfortable. The thermoplastic
polyurethane makes the shoe strong and
pliable. Polyurethane is a unique material
that offers elasticity, toughness, and
durability. Kangaroo leather is used to give an
extra spring to the athletes step and adds
elasticity.
