Every year, someone comes to our school asking what we
want to be when we are older. A doctor, a lawyer, a
policeman. What is my answer every year?
I want to be a Professional Baseball Player!

Job Description
Professional Baseball Players travel the country,
sometimes even the world playing baseball against
other teams.
Various equipment is used. Every player has a
uniform (hat, socks, cleats, jersey, and pants), every
player has a bat and batting helmet (some have
batting gloves, shin pads, and elbow pads). Every
player on the field has a glove (the first basemen,
and catchers have differently designed gloves), and
catchers have catching gear (shin guards, chest
protectors, face masks, and helmets).

Education Needed
To become a professional baseball player, no
education is required. Even though no education is
required, a lot of players have been through college.
To get on a Professional Team, you must be very
good. Then someone will come watch you play a game,
then if you do good then you are a prospect. Then
you have a chance of being drafted to a professional
team.
This is a picture of a player on my favorite college
team, the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Working Conditions
The work hours vary. they play during the season, which is
Spring-October. They play almost everyday, and at different
times.
Their environment is various professional baseball fields, all
around the world, but usually just around the country.
Professional baseball players do risk injury. Pitchers can pitch
the ball up to 100 mph and sometimes they accidentally bean
(or hit) the batter with the ball. Also, players can sprain
ankles, break bones, tear muscles, etc.
Professional baseball players wear baseball pants, baseball
socks, a uniform with their team on it, their team's hat, and
metal cleats.
