One sunny day in the middle of the summer, June's mother sat her down and asked if she would like to take a trip to the beach. June has never been on vacation before, but she was very excited.
June rushed to her room, ready to pack.... hmm, but what do kids pack for the beach? "A long sweater?" No! "My favorite sparkly tennis shoes?" No! Hmmm, June just couldn't figure out what to bring.

After what felt like ages of digging through her whole closet June heard her mom yell from downstairs. " JUNE ARE YOU ALMOST PACKED?" Uh oh, June better hurry if she wants to go to the beach.
June hurried to grab a few clothes and shoved them in her bag. What is the beach like, June wondered. Only a few of her friends had been, she wasn't sure what to expect.
June and her mom packed up the car and the next morning were on their way! June still couldn't imagine how many fun things she'd be able to do on vacation.

After 12 hours, a long nap, and a few bathroom breaks, June's mom announced "We're Here!" June quickly sat up in her seat, peering out the window.
She watched as the car pulled into the parking lot for the condo, she smiled as she watched other children run by and giggled when she saw a bird pecking at a piece of bread near some grass.

June quickly ran to find her room for the week. She ran all through the condo, up the stairs, around the corner and she was finally there. "Mommmm, where is the beach?" June yelled. " Her mom caught up behind her, coming through the door. "Oh honey, we will go to the beach later lets unpack and find something to eat."
I'm going to fly my kite, and build a sandcastle. I'm gonna run all over and swim out so far

After her mom giving her a few choices, June picked a small restaurant by the water. She was adamant on having chicken and fries, just like at home. June looked out towards the water watching the boats sail by. "Are you excited to be here on vacation?"
Mom asked June. "YES! Im. so excited, but where is the beach??" June excitedly asked. Her mom giggled and tried to explain again that they would go to the beach soon.

June dreamt the entire night about how much fun she would have on the beach the next day. She imagined building the biggest sandcastle on the beach, and licking a melting ice cream cone like in the movies.
