This book is dedicated to miss zimmerman, my fifth grade teacher.

“Wow!” said Bruce, looking out the window of the airplane. They were flying over the taiga,  when suddenly there was an alarm. A voice said, “The plane is going to crash. We will hand out protective armored jackets, we will pass them out from back to front.” Then, just when Bruce and his family got the jackets on, the plane crashed! When they regained consciousness, they were the only ones alive. When everyone woke up, Bruce said “ We need to set up a place to sleep, and we need to set up a fire for the night. Then we need to send a radio message.”  “I found one!” said Jamey, his sister After they sent the message when  they got to work, the heaviness of the situation came down like a heavy fog thick and hard to see.

The taiga is almost untouched by modern life so Bruce knew his cell phone would not work, plus it  was out of battery. 

 At the wreck, Bruce and his family use their Swiss Army knives to make spears.  After many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many tries, they were able to kill 4 rabbits. Thanks to Bruce's boy scout skills they managed to make a spit. They felt as if a large weight had been lifted off their backs.  As they ate in a closed off part of the wreck, Bruce says to his family, “I think we might actually have a chance to survive this.”  Just as they were drifting off to sleep, they heard a howl, and then, many,many, many, many, many, many, many more howls! “I spoke too soon!” said Bruce.

The taiga is home to some of the hardiest animals in the world, such as wolves, tigers and bears.

Bruce and his family's eyes widened with fear. “Wolves!” whisper-shouted Bruce, “be very quiet.” His family's heads nodded silently. Then the wolves caught wind of the family. They went into a mad craze trying to get into the wreck! Jamey screamed. But that made the wolves attack the wreck even more ferociously! “Dad!” Bruce said, “use your army knife to make wooden spears!”

 “Got it!” said his dad. He began making spears faster than you can blink!
