Mr. Leuzzi, Ms. Melissa and the grade 1/2 class
were about to embark on a journey. Their
journey was to begin in Egypt. Egypt is a
country. This country is in the continent called
Africa.

They quickly packed their suitcase and headed to
the airport. At the airport, each person had to
show their passport to the officer to get checked.
The officer said " Don't forget everyone traveling
to another country needs their passport. Please
have it ready." Jesse said to Lefteris " I hope I
did not forget my passport". Eva overheard and
said " I have mine right here" as she waved it
around. After the officer checked all the
passports, they entered the airplane to enjoy the
11 hour flight (Montreal to Egypt).

When Mr. Leuzzi, Ms. Melissa and the whole
grade 1/2 class stepped out of the airplane,
they couldn't help but notice how hot it was
outside. In the month of May, Egypt can get as
hot as 32 degrees Celsius.
Cristiano said to the class " It's hot because
most of Egypt is a desert." Natalia said " That
is true. A desert means that it is dry land and
does not rain often". Theo added " I think
there is a lot of sand in Egypt".

Matteo suggested that we walk around the Egypt
for the day. As we were walking, we saw many
animals. Portia saw a camel. She found it so funny
that that someone was sitting on it.
Tristian D saw a cat. But, this was no ordinary cat.
It was a sand cat. Sand cats don't need to drink a
lot of water and have fur on the bottom of their
paws to protect them from the hot sand.

Felix was about to go pet the sand cat when a lady
came and asked "Where are you all from?" The all
shouted "We are from the country called Canada".
Simona noticed that the lady was wearing many
layers of clothing. She asked Ms. Melissa "why she
is wearing so many clothes?" Ms. Melissa
responded "The layered clothing helps protect her
from the heat".
The lady, Sara said " Welcome to Egypt! Come to
my house. I will cook lunch for you."
