Hi my name is Katie!

I am excited to go to school today because we are having our spring family picnic. My mom, my dad, and my little brother Dylan are all coming to my picnic today! My family is called a nuclear family. This is because my family has two grown-ups and me and my brother.

We start our day in the classroom. My teacher says we need to do some learning before our picnic. I do my math, science, and writing work while I wait for my family to get here. It it really hard to pay attention because I am so excited!

These are my friends Miles, Sadie, Trevor, and Alana. We are all waiting for our families to meet us at school. I am so excited to see who everyone brings!

I am sitting at my blanket with my family and I see that not everybody is with their mom, dad and brother like me. I see some of my friends with one grown up and I see friends with four grown ups. Some of my friends have their brothers and sisters and some of my friends do not.

My friend Miles is over on the playground by himself. He looks very sad. I am going to see what is wrong and see if I can make him feel better.

Miles' mom is a nurse. Miles looks sad because his mom is at work during our picnic. I invited him to come sit with me and my family at the picnic so he is not alone. He seems happy now that he has someone to sit with.

I wonder who Trevor brought to the picnic.

Trevor is here with his mom and his dad. He is also here with his grandma. His grandma lives with them and they have dinner together every night which I think sounds like so much fun.
