Intro
This book, written by the partners of the eTwinning project "Recycling for our World" is meant to be an exposition of the work done by the whole school communities in the process of recovering, reusing and recycling waste.
Every school partner chose the topic (recycled waste) on which to investigate: paper, glass, plastic, batteries, etc.
Each partner researched and had meetings with experts about the importance of waste collection
for the safeguarding of the environment and Nature. At the end, (of the book), there are two good recycling practices: designing and making the hummingbird and an armchair.
Thanks to this project, our students have become aware of their own part in the process to protect, for themselves and future generations, the resources of our planet.
We think that now and in the future, the students are and will be good and attentive global citizens.

PAPER
First of all, we should not forget that trees are used to make paper and that trees are the lifeblood of our living world. Each tree that is cut down or destroyed can negatively affect the futu of our children. If 1 ton of paper is recycled and reused, 17 living trees will not be cut down and they can continue to produce oxygen for our world.

The answer to the question of what to do for waste of paper is very simple. Instead of crumpling and throwing away used paper products such as notebooks, books, newspapers, magazines and cardboard, you can throw these wastes in the collection units. Thus, the wastes can be transferred to the necessary facilities for recycling. There are many organizations and paper collection boxes dealing with this issue in our country. These collection units we mentioned
on the streets and even in shopping malls you can come across.

METAL
Metal is produced as a result of processing and purification of various minerals that make up the earth's layer,Almost,every metal is recyclable and has an important place in the circular economy.
What is metal waste?
-Aluminum beverage cans - Oil and tomato paste cars
-Tin cars -Kitchen tools(fork,knife , pot,pan,kettle
-Aluminium foils.

Why is recycling metal waste important?
-As a result of recycling 1 ton of metal waste 1300 kg of raw material is saved.
-We can operate a 100 w light bulb for zo hours with the energy obtained from the recycling of only one metal beverage can.
for example ,with aluminum recycling;
* % 95 in energy consumption
* %90 in air pollution
* %97 in water pollution savings are achieved.

Vegetable Waste Oil
Waste oils mixed with domestic waste cause fires in solid waste landfills.
When these waste oils are poured into the sewer, they cover the water surface and this damages the water system, blocks sunlight and prevents the transfer of oxygen from the air to the water. Therefore, it harms aquatic creatures. It clogs drains and causes huge expense.

Waste vegetable oils are converted into soap bars, raw materials to be used in the chemical industry, and products such as biodiesel and soap. Of these, biodiesel; It is a product that is produced by mixing with petroleum and can be used as fuel, and its damage to the ozone layer is fifty percent less than diesel fuels.

Waste batteries can get into the soil and then into the groundwater. First of all, the soil becomes unusable and the water pollution created by the waste batteries turns the aquatic ecosystem upside down. It is not only the aquatic ecosystem that is affected, but the entire ecosystem. Over time, these effects are also seen on humans.
Waste Batteries

In order to prevent waste batteries from poisoning the environment, we should collect waste batteries in a separate place. Accumulated waste batteries should be thrown into waste battery collection boxes as soon as possible. These waste batteries are taken by the authorities and separated according to their types. The separated batteries are decomposed in appropriate facilities and the precious metals in them are made to be used again. The remaining parts are stored in a way that does not harm the environment.

PLASTIC

We, the consumers and the organizations dealing with this issue, have a duty to evaluate plastic waste. The conversion process has several steps and variants. First of all, when purchasing these items, it is necessary to pay attention to the recycling sign on the labels. Users of products containing plastics start the recycling process by throwing these materials into garbage containers suitable for recycling. In addition, plastics can be separated from normal garbage and participate in the recycling process.

Recycling of paper is important because it provides significant savings in the amount of raw materials used and has a high economic value.
First of all, waste paper is collected in paper recycling bins in different places and then put together in a large recycling container. Then the waste paper in the container is transported to the paper recycling facility by a collection vehicle. Papers coming to the recycling facility are separated according to their types.
