Siddhartha has left his best friend Govinda and
proceeds through the forest. He reaches a town in
which he sees a gorgeous women known as Kamala.
Siddhartha makes eye contact with her. She smiles and
nods. Siddhartha knew that they had chemistry from the
moment he saw her. He did not want her to see him
because he is still dressed like a Samana. He learns
that she is a famous courtesan. Siddhartha finally
obtains the courage to introduce himself.
Kamala is the first women Siddhartha has
talked to that he is interested in. Siddhartha
asks Kamala to be his friend and teacher in
Sexual Healing. Kamala finds it very ridiculous
that an ascetic from the forest wearing a cheap
piece of cloth has come to her for a sexual
education. She agrees to teach him. Kamala
tells him that he should obtain a job to live
here. Siddhartha likes
Kamala and wants to stay with her. Although he
remembers his path to enlightenment, he is
still sidetracked by Kamala.
Siddhartha asks Kamala for some advice on
where to get clothes, shoes, and money.
He gives her an overview of what he has done
with his life: the ability to think, starve, and
compose poetry. This whole idea of finding
enlightenment in yourself. Siddhartha then
shows off his skill, by composing a poem for
Kamala on the spot. She loves it, so she offers
him one kiss. Siddhartha is blown away by this
kiss and realizes Kamala is the one and he
wants to stay with her for he rest of his time
on Earth.
Another visitor arrives; Siddhartha is quickly
ushered out and offered a long, white robe.
Although he is now hungry, Siddhartha feels it is not
necessary anymore to beg for food now that he is no
longer a Samana. Pride suddenly flares within
Siddhartha. He is no longer a Samana, no longer is
it fitting for him to beg. He gives his rice cake to a
dog and goes without eating. Everything is easy,
easy as the kissing lessons Kamala is giving him.
Siddhartha tells Kamala that he is determined to
have her, and that the Samanas taught him how to
be single-minded, so that you can focus on a goal.
