Colombia is a country rich in culture and traditions and one of its must fascinating aspects is its legends. One of the most well know and intriving legends is that of El Dorado. El Dorado is a legendary city of gold, believed to be located in the Colombian Andes.
The legend has been passed down through generations, and many people have tried to find this city, but no one has succeeded.
The story goes that the Muisca Tribe, who lived in the Andes, had a ceremony where their chief would cover himself in gold and then jump into a lake. This ceremony was called the ”ceremony of the golden man”
The Muisca believed that the golden man was an emissary of the gods, and by jumping into the lake, he would offer the gods gifts of gold.
The legend of El Dorado has fascinated people for centuries, and many explorers have searched for this city of gold. However, despite their efforts, no one has found it. Some historians believe that the legend of El Dorado was born out of the Spanish conquest of the Americans.
