Ümit Besen, singer, was born in Osmaniye on October 14, 1956. His first instrument was melodica. He start playing the keyboard in high school in the same period,he founded the Tayfunlar Orchestra. He left his high school education. He went to Kütahya in 1976 to do his military duty. A general who listened to him in the army camp had Besen transferred to the Zonguldak Officer's Club. After his military service, he returned to Adana and started working in nightclubs. He recorded his first album in 1980.
