I'd like to thank Sarah Short for letting me use her name for my main character. (And my dad.)
CHAPTER ONE
I looked down at the getting to know you paper. I looked at the name on the paper. In cursive was written Sarahbellie Anom. I crossed out Sarahbellie and wrote Sarah. My name is Sarah. Sarahbellie is a really long name for an innocent child. Mrs. Anabella had written: What are your favorite after school activities? I thought and thought, and then it came to me. Then I wrote My favorite activities are singing, reading, and soccer. Two of those were a lie. But one was true. I play soccer. I will play in the World Cup.
CHAPTER TWO
"Sarahbelie!" called my Mama. I ran towards her and yelled, "Good to see you!" I couldn't wait for soccer practice. I told Mama all about my day like a normal kid. Mama said, "Okay," "Yup," and "Cool" to my stories. "Sarah, I understand that you are excited for soccer practice. But I need to tell ya something first." I responded and said, "Okay." Then, Mama started on what seemed to be a long story. "Your dad is working in the military, to raise money." "I want to hear more," I said." "Then we shall begin," Mama said.
CHAPTER THREE
"Your dad wanted to raise money for our poor family,"
Mama started. "He got fired from every job he tried. But then he got a call from a military base to offer him a job in the military. And he agreed." "Wait, what, why?" I asked "I know, Sarah he is risking his life for ours," she explained. "But... But... I love dad. More then anything in the world." "I know, but this is how things got to be. Now time for soccer practice!!!" Then I sighed as we made our way across the street.
CHAPTER FOUR
"Welcome ya'll to soccer practice! Let's start with one hundred jumping jacks! H.J., you go be partners with Sarahbellie," said Coach Lia. I was having the best time of my life, when H.J. came up to me and said, "Hey, Sarahsmellie! When did ya fart today?" he teased. I was burning up with anger; I had to respond. So I did. "You stop calling me Sarahsmellie! And the H in your name stands for Hate soccer!" I said. Then coach came up to me and said, "Looks like we have partner problems!"
CHAPTER FIVE
"You two are in big trouble. As coach, you two will be moved down to coach Eduardo's class," Coach Lia yelled. "I can't believe this!" I said. "Believe what?" responded H.J. "You ruined my soccer dream! What am I supposed to do now? Play with little kids in their dumb ballet classes?" I yelled so loud that I think Marie heard me. "Don't say ballet is dumb! You know what? I think soccer is dumb!" Marie said in a sassy voice. Coach got mad and made us sit for the rest of practice. When I ran over to Mama there was a stranger in my car. Who was this person? Was she Carla?
CHAPTER SIX
"Come on Sarah, I need to tell ya' something," the woman said. I was startled. I was so determined to find how the woman knew my name was Sarah. So, I asked her that. "Hey, what's your name, ma'am?" I asked. "Sarah, I'm Carla, your favorite aunt. I'll be living with ya' until Pop comes back." I needed to tell her everything, so I did. After I told her everything, she told me what was happening. "Before ya' go to another soccer class, ya' need to win the official game against Virginia," she said. I was going to burst! I love the championship games against other states! " Am I going to play against more states, other than Virginia?" I asked. Carla said, "No, but ya' will play against our enemy state Virginia. Now let's go home and get some rest.
