India is the seventh largest country in theworld, it is slightly more that one-third the
size of the United States. It is composed of
four geographic regions: the Himalayas, the
Indo-Gangetic Plain, the Northwest desert
region, and the Indian Peninsula.

Parenting Styles of India
Parenting styles differ from culture to culture.Being that Indian parents decides on everything their child
does, is hindering the growth of their child, socially,
emotionally, and cognitively.

India's religious beliefs
Most if India's religion is Hindu. Muslim with a population of 13.4%, is
second largest religion being practice.

Culture
Culturally, India is rich and vivid tapestry. Itis the fountainhead of many world religions. Indian
literature is rich and varied both in terms of prose
and poetry in its regional languages such as, Bengali,
Hindu, Tamil, Marathi, and others as well as English.

India's Cultural Holidays
India celebrates three national holidays, Independence Day, Republic Day, and Gandhi Jayanti. Gandhi Jayanti, is a day they
honor Mahatma Gandhi, whom they consider the " Father of the
Nation," which they celebrate on his birthday, October 2. His
birthday is a day of prayer, as well as educating the young
children on Gandhi and his life.

Sleeping Arrangements
Co-sleeping during their child's early years is acharacteristics of the close mother-infant relationship
displayed by these mothers.

Attachment Parenting
Mothers of India enjoy closeness to theirbabies. They often carry their babies close to their
bodies.

Clothing RitualClothing ritual in India varies from region to region, dependingon the ethnicity, geography, climate and cultural traditions of the
people of the region. Females in India wear Saree or Sari, which is
a garment strip of unstitched cloth that ranges from four to nine inches
in length which drapes over their body in various styles.
