Once upon a time. in a beautiful forest lived a little green plant named Lorraine. Lorraine was a special plant because she had the power to make her own food.
Let me tell you how Lorraine made food for herself
Lorraine used a process called photosynthesis. This essential process helped plants like Lorraine to produce their own food.
Photosynthesis is the process by which plants make their own food using sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water.
Lorraine would take carbon dioxide from the air through tiny pores in her leaves called stomata. She also absorbed water and nutrients from the soil through her roots. She used all these ingredients to create glucose (sugar), which is the food that she needed to live and grow.
Lorraine loved how the trees in the forest provided her with the sunlight she needed for photosynthesis. She also knew that she, along with her fellow plants, provided the forest with oxygen that all animals needed to breathe.
