How many types of poultry do you know ?

And what are they?

Finally , The day had come for Tiara, her mom and  her little brother Tashon to visit Chickmont Foods Limited . 

Tiara and her brother anxiously waited as the taxi arrived to take them to there destination. 

Tiara and Tashon was excited to see the chickens and the other poultry at chickmonts food .

It was a sunny hot day in the island of Barbados.

The air conditioner blew in their face as the car drove along the highway.

There it was up ahead , Chickmont Foods Limited.

There they met Gregory Adams .

Who was the top farmer in the farmer division.

Gregory drove them over to the farming division where they got to see the chickens .

They first saw the chicken coop with all the chickens .

Gregory said that chickens are called poultry which are feather animals that are reared to provide food.

Layers are the egg producers.

Broilers are the meat producers

And the dual purpose chickens are the meat and egg producers.

Dual Purpose Chickens are chickens that are used for both egg-laying and meat production.

Did you know that there are chickens that are used for both egg-laying and meat production ?

The children were amazed .They thought all chickens did the same thing.

Gregory went on to say that chickens are very important to Barbados.

Poultry such as chicken are important to Barbados because they provide food to our citizens , such as chicken and eggs.

Poultry also provides jobs for our citizens.

And it  contributes to household food security throughout the developing world.
