Once there were two farmers in England in the year 1844 who wanted their  neighbors to have power. So they asked others to give five dollars each so they could get power for to those who needed it. Together they raised enough money to build power lines.  

Soon after, Americans heard what they were doing and started to do it also. However, the Americans did it in a slightly different way. 

They moved electricity to rural areas with:

. Power Plant

.Transmission Lines

. Substation

. Transformers

. Distribution Lines

And finally, after that, it gets to your house.

Americans have way more technology than they did in 1844. In 1844, if your power went out it will be out for days, or maybe even weeks. But now, if your power goes out, it will be back on before you know it.
