There once was a little boy named Timmy who loved going to the circus
One sunny afternoon, Timmy went to the fair with his parents. He was most excited to see the clowns!
The first clown Timmy saw looked very sad, with a big frown on his painted face. Timmy wondered how someone could be a clown if they were frowning. Weren't clowns supposed to be silly and happy?
Timmy watched as the frowning clown started his show
Even though he had an exaggerated frown, the clown did all sorts of funny tricks - juggling, telling jokes, and falling down in an overacted way.
Soon, the whole crowd, including Timmy, was laughing and smiling at the entertaining clown's antics. "I see now, he's just pretending to frown as part of his clown act!" Timmy said to himself.
After the show, Timmy's parents took him for a walk around the fair. They passed a fenced pen with a big brown cow slowly chewing hay.
Unlike the clown, the cow did seem to have a real frown.
