     We went to the media center to meet 

the library Leopard Geckos.   We learned 

so many things about our library pets!  

     Mrs. Darwin told us they are both 

girls.   Their names are Beezus and 

Ramona, and they do not like loud noises 

or tapping on their house.  

     We had so many questions!

     We talked about the properties we 

could observe with our eyes.   Ms. Ferree 

wrote down the words we used to 

describe the geckos' colors, texture, size 

and the way they moved.  

       Look at our list of properties!

     Mrs. Darwin told us the geckos shed 

their old tight skin every few weeks.   We 

used a special tool called a microscope to 

take a closer look at their skin.  

       Look at that texture!   We added 

words to our property list.   We also had 

so many questions that Ms. Ferree 

started writing them down.   We really 

were being scientists!

     We went back to our room and drew 

pictures of Ramona and Beezus.   We 

were careful to only use the colors we 

observed.   We drew like scientists.

     We used our properties list to write a 

sentence about what we saw.
