Amalya Antonovna my biological mother who now lived in St. Petersburg, Russia. My mother was curentTly 75 years old and she was alone. Her husband, none other than my father, had died. My mother probably thought I was dead. Because my mother last saw me in 1945. After that, my mother never heard of me again.
In 1945, it was wartime in Europe. My father was a soldier. My father died in the war in 1942. After that, my mother was left alone with me. Those were difficult times in Russia. There was very little food. Winter was very cold. German troops were in Russia. German soldiers killed many Russians. They sent many other Russians to Germany to work. Many of these people got sick and died.

My mother was a Russian worker in Germany. At the end of the war, my mother was still alive. I was still alive. But my mother was seriously ill. British and American soldiers came to town. My mother asked for help from some British soldiers. "Bring my child," my mother said. "I am very sick, but he must live,"

So I went to England. I lived with an English family, the Corbett family. I was only two years old. Grace and George Corbett were very kind to me. I was their son. They gave me the English name - Paul. They never told me about my Russian mother's life.

I was married and had two children. When I was 45 years old. Grace Corbett, my adoptive mother died. Then George Corbett told me about my Russian mother. I wanted to look for it. Maybe my mother was dead after all these years. But maybe not.
