Once upon a time, there was a very bored parrot named Squawk. Spending nearly all of his life in the jungle, he wished he could go somewhere else. Somewhere exciting. Somewhere exotic. Somewhere new.
The other parrots thought he was strange. They were content. Warm weather, endless food, and space to fly around? Perfect! But Squawk longed for more.

So, after a good night’s sleep, Squawk peeked out of his hole in the tree, wished “Farewell!” to his neighbors, and barreled off of the branch.
He felt ready for whatever the world might throw at him.

Honestly? Squawk had absolutely no idea what he was looking for. He just wanted a change from the humid, familiar jungle.

Luckily, he had flown in the right direction. North of the greenery was a desert, yellow and sandy. Squawk was ecstatic. He began happily descending.

Squawk could feel the warm grains of sand between his toes. It was so different from the branches that others were hooking their claws onto back home.
It felt good.

He realized there was another creature a little bit farther away, with a large body, four legs, and one hump on its back. It was walking on the sand.
He flew over.
“Who are you?” he asked.

“My name is Hump the camel,” the creature answered, “Are you new here?”
“Yes,” Squawk admitted, “I’m Squawk. Nice to meet you.”
Hump then explained, “The desert has plenty of open space, so I can scout out food. There’s not much water here, but that’s fine for me.”
Squawk told him about the jungle. “It’s very humid where I live. There are trees everywhere and many animals. The jungle is massive, so I have plenty of space to fly around.
Then he flew east.

After a while of flying, Squawk saw the end of the desert, and saw massive mountains towering over him. They seemed so majestic, their peaks reaching towards the vast sky. White snow lay in heaps on the summits, glistening in the sun. When Squawk went down to feel the powder, he jumped as he felt the stinging cold.
I wonder who lives here, Squawk thought.
Then he spotted another creature like the camel, but this one was more sleek and had white fur with black spots. He flew over.
“Who are you?” Squawk asked.

“My name is Spot. I’m a snow leopard. Are you new here?” Spot questioned.
“Yes,” Squawk admitted, “I’m Squawk. Nice to meet you.”
Spot replied, “The mountains are very cold and rocky. There's plenty of prey for me to eat around here.”
Squawk told Spot the same thing he told Hump. Then he flew north.
