September 4th 2060 we the people of New America
are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the first colony
founding on Mars.

Hi I’m Timothy and this is the story of how I got to Mars
at the age of 24. I’m part of the largest nation on the
planet. To know the complete story of how I came to be
here you must start at the beginning of the space race.

On October 4, 1957 the
Soviet Union launch the
first satellite into orbit and
began the space race. The
space race was a race
between nations to see
who could land a man on
the moon first.

On July 20,
1969 the U.S
landed Apollo 1
on the moon
and won the
first round of
the space race.

The space race for the moon had ended that day but the
world wanted to land a man on Mars and a new space
race started up, and it was my dream to be a part of that
program.

I was born on September 16th 2016 to Alexa and
Jonathan Wright I was the Middle of 5 kids. We were a
middle class American family from Aztec, New Mexico.
We had cacti for trees and never ran out of play sand.

I hadn’t seen snow until I was 15 and we drove to my
aunt who lives in Marquette, Michigan.

When I was about 8 years old I heard that first manned
mission to Mars was returning to to Earth. That year all I
wanted for my birthday and Christmas was to go to Cape
Canaveral, Florida and meet the astronauts that had
been to Mars.

That summer after school I got my wish and the family
vacation that year was to drive to Cape Canaveral,
Florida and watch the spacecraft land and watch the
astronauts disembark.

On the 27 hour drive to florida in the family van I sat in
the back, of our refurbished school bus, and looked up
everything I could about Mars and the exploration of it. I
read every website that had reliable sources so I didn't
get bad information.

When we arrived at Cape Canaveral, Florida we had
arrived two days before the landing was projected to
take place, so I, with family in tow, visited the Valiant Air
Command war birds Museum, The Kennedy space Center
where I met astronauts who had been to the
International Space Station, the US Space Walk of Fame,
the Air Force Space and Missile Museum, and NASA KT. I
learned more information from those museums than I
had during the driving part of the trip.

Then since it was a family trip we had to go to the
Orlando Fashion Mall, lucky for the men we saw the
Smokey Bones Grill across the street.

GO GO!

After the two days of waiting my dream was about to
come true I was in the front row on my Dad’s shoulders
watching the spacecraft land. 3, 2, 1, touchdown, the
landing craft had landed on the runway and as it slowly
rolled to a stop the door of the craft slowly opened and
out came a large man who was tall and strong.

It was the missions leader Christian Williams, he saw me
and signed my poster, he also told me that he used to
be just like me when he was young he told me it
wouldn’t be easy but I could get to Mars if I was willing
to do whatever it takes. Then came the rest of the crew,
all signing my poster and telling me to try hard and I
could get to go to Mars.
