The Books Significance
Service animals are amazing! They help and support people who struggle with different disabilities everyday. Whether that be, supporting them physically through helping them get around places, or mentally by providing emotional support. Each animal is individually trained to a specific need of a human to help gain the ability to properly accommodate their needs. This picture book is here to educate children on the variety of service animals and each task they help with. Well, jump right in and get reading!

Mobility Dog
Hi! Rover here! I really like to go on walks. Which is great because my owner takes me everywhere. My owner is in a wheel chair so movement can be hard for him sometimes. But he doesn't have to worry cause I'm here to help!

My favorite time of the day is when my owner wants to go somewhere. I act as though I am a "walker" by bracing myself so my kid can hold on for support and balance. Then we are ready to roll! If my kid drops something on the floor, I am there in a flash to help pick it up. No more struggling to reach things with me around!
Hey there! My name is scout. I would say I am a very good boy and as a bonus, I have a talent: I am a guide dog. This means I help my owner who can't see very well and keep them safe when they're walking around.

Guide dog

I use my excellent scent of smell to scout out things that my owner could potentially bump into hence the name. With a gentle tug of the harness, I steer them around obstacles like boxes or poles on the sidewalk.
My favorite thing is to press the button on the sidewalk. When my owner wants to cross the street, I will pause at the curb and wait until the cue keeps going, listening for oncoming cars.

Hearing Dog
Hola! I'm Lucy, and I have a superpower. Yes, yes, I know, a superpower! I have excellent hearing. I use my big floppy ears to listen out for important sounds that my owner might miss. I'm here to alert her of these sounds.

"Ring Ring"
"Whee Woo"
"Beep Beep"
I hear everything, my superpower is amazing. From hearing things like alarm clocks to smoke detectors, I will alert my owner and guide her to safety or the problem.

"Buzz Buzz"

Hello. I call myself Bailey. I am pretty intelligent, whereas I have a special set of skills that allow me to protect my owner. My owner has diabetes, this means she has to regularly check up on her sugar amounts. An orange juice a day will keep the doctor away in this case! Haha!
