"I'll miss you."

Hailey and Jason were playing a game in Hailey’s room when Jason said, “Hailey, I’d love to stay and play with you but I have to go pack, I leave in three weeks.” “Ok. I’ll help,” Hailey replied.

Why do you have to leave,” Hailey asked her brother. “Because I have to go to college, Hay,” Jason replied, “I wish I could stay, but all the college’s in Florida don’t have anything for me.” Hailey rolled her eyes. “Right. You know that when you’re gone I’ll be lonely.” “You’ll make friends. I know you will,” Jason told Hailey.

Three weeks later, the Kelly family was loading Jason’s moving truck. Jason hugged Hailey. “I love you forever and always, Hailey. Nothing will ever change that,” Jason said. Jason got in his car and started driving away. Hailey yelled after him, “I’ll miss you!”

“Jason, Ellie moved in first grade, and Riley has been friends with the ‘Popular girls’ since third grade,” Hailey said matter-of-factly as she ended the call.

“Jason, today was the worst first day of school ever,” Hailey told her brother over the phone. It had been about a month since Jason moved, and Hailey had tried to call Jason at least twice a week. “I’m sure fifth grade can’t be that bad. Besides you’ve got Ellie and Riley to get you through it,” Jason told her.

Hailey’s mother walked into Hailey’s room. “Hailey, can I talk to you?” she asked. “Sure,” Hailey replied. “I know that you are a little sad about Jason moving to Ohio for college, but I wanted to tell you that sometimes change is hard, but in the end it all works out,” Mrs. Kelly told Hailey.

The next day, Hailey went to school. During recess a girl walked up to the swing where Hailey was. “Hi. My name is Isabelle Goings, but everyone calls me Izzy. I just moved here and I think that I’m in your homeroom.” the girl said. “Oh, hi. I’m Hailey Kelly, and I’ve lived here my whole life. I think I saw you in math.” Hailey said, “Wanna swing with me?”
