Jules Verne Museum
The Musée Jules Verne is a museum dedicated to the French writer Jules Verne. It is located in the city of Nantes, France, and was opened in 1978 to mark the 150th anniversary of Verne's birth. The painter Jean Bruneau, helped by Luce Courville, curator of the municipal library, joined forces to open this museum.
The museum is housed in a late 19th century building overlooking the river Loire. While Verne never lived in the building, its surroundings reflect the atmosphere which influenced his work. His parents had a house in nearby Bas-Chantenay
Dobree Museum
The Musée Dobrée is an archeology museum in Nantes, in the quartier Graslin in the immediate outskirts of the city centre and very close to the city's Natural History Museum. It was given to the city by Thomas Dobrée (13 August 1810 – 1895) and now belongs to the Conseil général de la Loire-Atlantique. In January 2010, the Conseil général began a project to restructure and modernise the museum, which is planned for completion in 2023.

Vendée is a department in the Pays de la Loire region in Western France, on the Atlantic coast. In 2019, it had a population of 685,442. Its prefecture is La Roche-sur-Yon.
History
The area today called the Vendée was originally known as the Bas-Poitou and is part of the former province of Poitou. Since the Vendée held a considerable number of influential Protestants, including control by Jeanne d'Albret mother of Henry IV of France, the region was greatly affected by the French Wars of Religion which broke out in 1562 and continued until 1598. In April of that year King Henri IV issued the Edict of Nantes and the Wars came to an end.

Culture:
The museums of the Vendee are ideal for the young and old alike. To better understand local history there are some interesting places to visit such as: the Historial de la Vendee, the Modern and contemporary art Museum of the Abbaye Sainte Croix (where actual paintings and pieces of art are on exhibition). Many museums provide cultural activities, visits, and fun exhibitions.
Historical monuments are not to be outdone, as they too, know the art of storytelling. During your cultural tour, why not stop off at that Luçon cathedral where the future Minister, Richelieu began his career as a young Bishop. Alternatively, the abbeys of the Marais poitevin are also unique architectural gems: firstly, the Romanesque Abbaye de Nieul which may have been the birthplace of Queen Alienor, and secondly the Gothic abbey of Maillezais once visited and described by Rabelais.
