Romania's story
Little Boy’s Wish
Once upon a time lived a little boy. A little boy with the hopes and the dreams of children of his age. He was very bright, optimistic and creative. His imagination would go beyond limits. He was truly an intelligent kid, with a promising future ahead. What he would love the most would be to socialize, to make friends, to play with other kids... but they won't include him in their groups. Little Boy was different. He didn't look the same as others. Kids would always make fun of him and run away from him. " You are not like us, weirdo !", said one of his classmates mockingly. Little Boy felt sad, but he didn't dare to show it. He smiled through the pain, watching the kid leaving quietly.

A couple of moments later another classmate of his walked up to him from behind and nudged him harshly. " Oh, it's you ! The one nobody likes ", said the boy while laughing at him. Little Boy felt pain in his heart. Why were all these people talking to him like this ? He never did anything wrong, he never did anything to upset them. At the end of the day, he went back home, got dressed in his inside clothes and while walking to his desk to study, he passed by a mirror. Little Boy looked in the piece of glass bitterly. " Nobody likes me.. Why do I look like this " , he thought, his eyes getting teary and his nose turning pink. " Just because my skin colour is not the same as theirs, why am I so hated ? ", and Little Boy started crying.
The next day, Little Boy went to school as usual. He sat alone, at the back of the class, at his desk and waited for classes to start.

Once the first break came, he went outside, in the playground, and started playing with a ball. Little Boy giggled as he kept on kicking the ball, running after it, then kicking it again, and so on. But suddenly, a little girl shows up next to him, with the boys who bullied him yesterday behind her. Little Boy's shoulders slouched down. " The ball ", said the girl in a serious tone. She had long, blonde hair, round, hazel eyes and... it seemed that her skin looked the same as his. "Oh, okay, there you go...", Little Boy gave her the ball and was about to leave but right then Little Girl spoke up. " Aren't you going to play with us ? ", asked the girl with a smile, which made Little Boy raise his eyebrows in surprise, quickly turning around.

He returned her smile, but twice bigger. " Of course I will ! ", Little Boy jumped in excitement, joining them in. This was the first time somebody wanted to play with him. He was so enthusiastic, so happy. Little Boy looked a bit in doubt at the two boys who came along with Little Girl, since they weren't acting that nicely with him the day before. " We are sorry ", both of them spoke at the same time, clearly regreting their actions. " Yesterday, after school, we met Little Girl at the park near school and she looked just like you ", said one of the boys, " And we were about to make fun of her " , he sighed, scratching the back of his head, ashamed of his actions " But she stopped us from doing it and explained to us how what we are doing is wrong... She told us to think about how we would feel if we were in her shoes, how it would affect us", the boy stared down at his feet and added
" So I thought about it and I realized that I wouldn't feel too happy... I would feel so sad.. I decided to never make fun of people again ", he then looked up at Little Boy and asked ", Will you please forgive us ? Can we be friends now ? ", both boys were hoping to be forgiven, to become friends with him. Little Boy smiled and nodded. " I will forgive you two, but you have to promise me that you will never judge somebody by their appearance ever again and that you will never make fun of others ", said Little Boy sternly. " We promise you ! ", said the two and hugged Little Boy tightly. Turns out, that in the end, Little Boy made friends. The ones who bullied him realized their mistakes and tried to make up for them. Nobody should be treated unfairly. we are all humans, we all deserve to be happy and loved.
