The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child is an important agreement by countries who have promised to protect children’s rights.
Every child has the right to an education. Primary education should be free. Secondary and higher education should be available to every child. Children should be encouraged to go to school to the highest level possible. Discipline in schools should respect children’s rights and never use violence. Children’s education should help them fully develop their personalities, talents and abilities. It should teach them to understand their own rights, and to respect other people’s rights, cultures and differences. It should help them to live peacefully and protect the environment.

Nutrition in the Convention on the Rights of the Child
Article 24 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child requires states to protect children's right to health and ensure healthy nutrition. States should take the necessary measures to ensure that children have access to clean water, adequate food and healthcare.
What Can Be Done to Ensure the Right to Nutrition
1. Support for Families: Food aid can be provided to families with poor financial situation.
2. School Meal Programs: With state-supported school meals, children can be guaranteed to have at least one healthy meal.
3. Information: Families should be informed about children's nutritional needs and healthy eating methods.
4. International Support: International aid organizations can provide food and nutritional support, especially for children living in crisis areas.
The right to food is critical not only for survival, but also for children to realize their potential. Violation of this right causes not only individual but also social problems.

One of the most important rights is your right to family and community life, and every child or adolescent – with a few exceptions – has to live with her or his parents.
Your family is the place where you feel safe, recognized, loved – and sometimes told off as well. It’s where the people that love you the most can help you. Sometimes in the family there is a mother and a father, but sometimes not.
Your family is your aunt, your grandmother, someone who is responsible for taking care of you. Taking care of you isn’t optional. Your parents, or those who take care of you instead of them, are obligated to guarantee your integral growth and development. That means that they respect each and every one of your rights as the child or adolescent that you are.
The right to a family is central to ensuring that children grow up in an environment that allows them to reach their full potential while enjoying love, security, and stability.

The right to protection
Once children are born and survive, they have the right to be protected from all forms of harm including domestic violence. They must be protected from physical violence and psychological intimidation they may be within and outside their families.
The right to protection also includes being protected from child labour, tasks that are dangerous or impede their education. Likewise, children must be protected from harmful substances and drugs. Another important aspect is protection from trafficking, smuggling, kidnapping, sexual abuse and all
forms of exploitation against children.
The government also has the duty to ensure that child victims are rehabilitated and reintegrated into society with dignity.
In terms of the justice process, every child not only has the right to fair treatment but also unique attention to children’s needs meaning every legal procedure needs to take into account the best interest of children.
For children separated from their families, they have the right to be protected and cared for with respect to their ethnic background, language, religion, and culture. In wartime, every child must be protected from war or joining the fighting.

The right to develop their potential
Every child has the right to life. Governments must do all they can to ensure that children survive and develop to their full potential. Every child has the right to an education. Primary education must be free and different forms of secondary education must be available to every child. Discipline in schools must respect children’s dignity and their rights. Richer countries must help poorer countries achieve this. Education must develop every child’s personality, talents and abilities to the full.
