Overview.

A virtual group discussion brought together three teenagers to discuss their opinion about social media influence. The conversation focused on key social media, experience, culture and how the social median can influence people.

Points discussed.

Social media can promote our culture.

Iman defined social media as a great and big platform where we can share anything in it. Iman gave examples of social media which is Tik Tok, WhatsApp, Instagram and Twitter. Social media is a platform that can spread awareness about our culture to go international. As example, when we do a Tik Tok video about our culture, other people from around the world would be interested. So, they will come to Malaysia to experience it themselves. At the same time, Malaysian local sellers will get their benefits and get to help increased Malaysian economy.

Local food went international.

Irdina believes that social media is a platform that everyone use nowadays and share about their daily life in it. Her favourite application was Tik Tok because she likes to dance and try out new things. She states that some Tik Tok influencer share about trending and new foods that can made it to international. On the other hand, Irdina suggested that making short videos can promote our culture. Irdina also mentioned about Malaysian annual event, Keretapi Sarong that indirectly promote Malaysian culture about Batik and traditional costume with most used public transport in Malaysia.

Comments affects someone's life.

Ain share about social media shapes her experience. Ain used to post learning material on Tik Tok application and she got a lot of feedback. She got both positive and negative comments. But somehow, she manage to focus more on positive comments that bring her motivation up. This shows that we need to know that how other people thought about us is nothing to worry about. Everyone have their own opinion and that is fine. As long you are doing something right, then there is nothing wrong.

Conclusion.

To sum up, the video covered about how social media shapes our experience and culture. Many opinion from many perspective can be compiled in one session video. Social media can influence anything either good or bad influence, so, as a good user, we need to manage our life well.
