One day while Mr.Peer was walking down the halls he heard reckless banging coming from the band room

It was the devious duo, brothers Braux and Doode Wrongway.

They were playing on the timpani and snare in the most heinous ways, damaging the instruments and the ears of the people around them

When Mr.Peer asked them to play quieter they then proceeded to play with no velocity and started barely tapping on the instruments

Mr.Peer explained to them that they should play in the correct beating zones and play at the level of mezzo piano. He told them that in order to play at that level the timpani mallets should be held in french grip and the snare drummer shouldn’t play with all arm.

After he told them this, the boys asked how they would ever know to do that on their own, as their music didn’t tell them. 

Mr.Peer told them that they should think to themselves “Should I be playing at this height right now?” and “How loud is the band playing, is the focus on me?”.

Mr.Peer said that the band has features in music that show off certain instruments, and that percussion instruments should be quiet when it is not their turn. 

He told them that all instruments are made differently, and that percussion is a lot louder than the other instruments, so in order to make the band sound better, percussionists must play with the band, not against them. 

Ever since that day, Baux and Doode’s mother saved money on ear plugs when they were at home, and everyone sounded and acted better in the band.
