About the author:

Dalina Nguyen is a third year college student from the US. She wrote this book during her time studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark. This book about caring relationships between the teacher and student is inspired by her own teacher, Jen.

My name is Ingrid and today is my first day of kindergarten. I am really nervous and scared because I have never been to school before.

I hope my teacher is nice.

When I walked into the classroom, I met my teacher. She said her name was Mrs. Frankfurt. She had a big smile and was very happy to be at school, but I was still a little scared.

"I am very happy you are here Ingrid! Are you okay? You look sad." She said.

I said "I just am really scared about school."

But then Mrs. Frankfurt gave me a big hug. I felt so much better. I felt relaxed and ready for school because I know Mrs. Frankfurt really cares for me, just like my mom does.

Because of this, I am ready to learn at school!

I met my new friends and we had a lot of fun playing, but now I really miss my mom. I feel sad and I want to go home.

Mrs. Frankfurt noticed I was sad right away, "What's wrong Ingrid?" She asked.
