Hi, I’m Nelly the Neuron! I live in your body, helping it work like magic. Let me show you how I do it! I have three main parts: dendrites, an axon, and a cell body. Want to know how I help you move, think, and feel? Let’s go!
I’m built for communication! My dendrites catch signals from my friends. My cell body, or soma, is like my control center—it decides what to do with the signal. Then, my axon acts like a highway, sending messages to other neurons, muscles, or glands. At the end, my synapse helps pass the message across a tiny gap to another neuron or a target cell.

Imagine me like a messenger. I carry electrical signals called impulses. My dendrites pick up messages, my cell body processes them, and my axon sends them speeding down to the synapse. Then, I release special chemicals called neurotransmitters to deliver the message to the next cell. Teamwork makes it all happen!

Meet my friends!
• Sensory Neuron: The detective, who gathers information from the outside world (like touch, taste, and smell).
• Motor Neuron: The muscle commander, who tells your muscles what to do.
• Interneuron: The smart connector, who links sensory and motor neurons to make decisions.

Let’s see how we work together!
When you see a ball, Sensory Neuron sends the ‘ball’ message to your brain.
Interneurons decide what to do: ‘Catch it!’ Then Motor Neurons tell your arm muscles to grab the ball. All this happens in a split second!

Now you know how neurons like me keep your body and brain connected! Next time you think, move, or feel, remember it’s all thanks to teamwork in your nervous system

Sometimes we need to act really fast! Like when you touch something hot. Sensory Neurons send an urgent signal to the spinal cord, where Interneurons immediately alert Motor Neurons. Your muscles pull your hand away even before your brain realizes it’s hot. That’s called a reflex!
