When Mr. Smith noticed his ELA class only read the books required for class, he asked Ms. Webber, the school librarian, to help his students find books for recreational reading.

Cassie might have trouble choosing a book. She doesn't do the readings for class, and she really struggles with both reading and writing. I never give up on my students, but I worry she's given up on herself.

Cassie checked out Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls. Maybe a book about her favorite topic - dogs - would spark a love of reading.
