启明二马路2号：红砖洋楼中的文学灵光

No. 2 Qiming Erma Road: A Red-Brick Haven of Creativity

位于广州市越秀区启明二马路2号的秦牧旧居，是一座两层红砖曲尺形洋楼，外墙爬满苍翠藤蔓，绿意掩映下透着民国建筑的简约与诗意。

The Qin Mu Former Residence at No. 2 Qiming Erma Road in Guangzhou’s Yuexiu District is a two-story red-brick building in an early modernist style, its façade draped in lush vines that evoke both historical charm and literary romance.

这座建于20世纪初的早期现代主义建筑，于2014年被列为广州市第一批历史建筑，其清水红砖立面与西式拱券窗户的设计，融合了岭南实用性与西洋美学特质，成为东山洋楼群中独具辨识度的文化地标。

Designated as one of Guangzhou’s first batch of historical buildings in 2014, its clean-lined stucco walls and arched windows reflect a fusion of Lingnan practicality and Western aesthetics, standing out within Dongshan’s iconic Western-style villa cluster.

旧居见证了秦牧创作生涯的黄金时期。1950年至1966年间，秦牧在此居住并写下《花城》《艺海拾贝》等代表作。书房中，他常以阳台盆栽为灵感，如《花城》中描写的吊钟花便源自旧居客厅的摆设。

From 1950 to 1966, this residence witnessed Qin Mu’s most prolific period, during which he penned masterpieces like Flower City and Gems from the Art Ocean. 

建筑内部保留原貌，曲尺形结构分隔出书房与客厅，书架堆满各地搜集的奇石、贝壳与古籍剪报，成为《艺海拾贝》中“知识性、趣味性、思想性”三性统一的灵感源泉。

His study, preserved with original furnishings, housed shelves of curiosities—seashells, rare stones, and clippings—that inspired the blend of “knowledge, wit, and insight” defining his essays.

旧居庭院曾种植桂花与鹤顶兰，秦牧夫人紫风提议将《年宵花市》更名为《花城》，使“花城”一词成为广州的文化符号。

The courtyard’s osmanthus trees and potted orchids, including the crane’s crest orchid mentioned in Flower City, fueled his botanical imagination. It was here that his wife, Zifeng, suggested renaming an essay from New Year Flower Market to Flower City, cementing Guangzhou’s identity as a floral metropolis.

如今，藤蔓缠绕的红砖墙与若隐若现的拱窗，仍低语著作家“以美育唤醒民族精神”的信念。

Today, the ivy-clad walls and arched windows silently narrate his belief in “awakening national spirit through beauty”.
