One cold winter morning, ten-year old Ellia woke up for school. As soon as she dismissed her noisy alarm and took a big stretch, She got out of bed and ran to the kitchen to make herself some breakfast. She decided that some nice, fluffy pancakes would fit her cravings.

When she finished her delicious pancakes, she went to the bathroom to brush her silky, brown hair. As soon as she completed the rest of her routine, she waited outside for her mom to get in the car.
As she got in the car and fastened her seatbelt, she thought about seeing her best friend again. Maddie was her name. They played with each other everyday, every time, for every reason. It all started when they first learned to walk. Their moms met at a daycare, and ever since then they were inseparable. Now these girls are all grown up and go to school together.

Hi!

Hi, bestie!

When she arrived at school, she got her pencil out and started working. She watched the pencils as they got sharpened, all the noisy kids yapping as they pretended to do the work, and slowly watched the clock as it went tick tick tick until the bell went on for recess. At last it was recess time! She could finally see Maddie again. She rushed out the door, ran to Maddie’s class, and waited until she came out of her classroom. Her classroom was really close to the playground, so as soon as Maddie came out, they could go straight to recess. As she waited, she noticed a girl walking by herself. She had short, light blonde hair and tan skin. Her bright green eyes stared at a little notebook that she was writing in. Ellia decided to walk up to her.

Hi, I'm Ellia, what's your name?
I'm Lizzy, do you want to be friends?

“Hi,” She said, “I’m Ellia, What’s your name?”
“I’m Lizzy, do you want to be friends?” Lizzy said eagerly. The girls talked to each other for a good few minutes, but little did Ellia know that they were being watched.
Suddenly Maddie finally came out of her classroom and caught her bestie talking to another girl. She immediately grew jealous, for she believed Ellia should only have one best friend. Ellia realized Maddie was watching, so she said a quick “Goodbye” to her new friend.
“So, you have a NEW friend? I told you that you can only have one friend, which is me!” Maddie said with an angry temper.
Slightly annoyed, Ellia said, “Maddie, I was just talking to her until you came out of your classroom. Besides, even if she was my “new bff” like you said, you shouldn’t stop me from making friends. Now come on, we still have recess.”

........
You have a new friend?! I told you that you can only have one friend!
You shouldn't stop me from making friends!

“Ellia, I’m not going to follow you to recess until you apologize.”
“Apologize? For what? Maddie, I did nothing wrong, stop being sensitive.”
“Sensitive? I just told you that you can only have me as your friend! Is that too much to ask for?”
“If you're just going to keep being controlling like this, I might as well not be friends with you in the first place.”

I'm not going to recess until you apologize.
Maddie, I did nothing wrong, stop being sensitive.
Sensitive? I told you that you can only have me as your friend! Is that too much to ask for?
If your just going to keep being controlling like this, I might as well not be friends with you in the first place.

And just like that, Maddie stormed away without saying another word. She’ always stomps off everytime! Ellia thought to herself angrily. Suddenly, Lizzy walked up to her.
“Wow, what just happened?” Lizzy asked, completely interrupting Ellia’s thoughts.
“Maddie’s just being unappreciative, that’s all. She'll talk to me again eventually. That's how it always goes.” But unfortunately, Ellia was wrong. Very wrong.

Wow, what just happened?
Maddie is just being unappreciative, that's all. She'll talk to me again eventually.

Later that day, Ellia looked for Maddie and waited for her to ask to be friends again, but that didn’t happen. Every time Maddie caught a glimpse of Ellia she would completely ignore her. Ellia really started to miss her, even though it has only been a few hours. She's never going to be friends with me again! She thought to herself as a tear dropped down her cheek. On the good side, She became best friends with Lizzy. She felt that Lizzy was different. A good different. She finally felt appreciated when she was around her.
