Emma loved baking, but today was a disaster. She had just bought all the ingredients to make cookies, but things weren’t going as planned.
“The dough is too tough!” she complained, trying to mix it. No matter how hard she stirred, it wouldn’t soften.
Her little brother, Jake, watched with a grin. “Maybe you didn’t add enough milk.”
Emma sighed and kept going. When she finally rolled the dough, it felt too rough. “This isn’t right,” she muttered.

She pushed the tray into the oven and waited. Halfway through, the kitchen filled with smoke. “Oh no!” she cried, opening the oven.
Jake started to cough from the smoke. “I think you brought disaster into the kitchen!” he joked.
Emma groaned. “I fought so hard to make perfect cookies, but I think I failed.”
Jake picked up a burnt cookie. “They still look good, though.”
Emma couldn’t help but laugh. “Next time, I’ll follow the recipe properly.”
