When I was a baby I could not walk.

I could not talk.

I could not feed myself.

I could not really do much by myself.

My family took care of me,

since I was too little to by myself.

But as I got bigger,

I got stronger and stronger.

I learned how to do some things all by myself.

I learned how to sit.

I learned how to crawl.

I learned how to walk

and I started to talk.

I can do these things by myself!

I can eat with a spoon by myself!

I can drink from a cup by myself!

I can even eat four scoops of ice cream 

              all by myself!

I can throw a ball by myself!

I can swing and I can go down

    the slide by myself!

I can do lots of things by myself,

because I am a big kid.

Babies wear diapers

and I am not a baby anymore.

I am a big kid!

It is time for me to learn to use the potty!

It is a little scary,

because I have never done it before.

But I know I can do it!

Just like I learned how to sit and crawl

and walk and talk.

I know I can use the potty too!

My family helps me learn how to use the potty.

They had to learn how to

use the potty once too!

They know how to do it.

So I know I can too!

I get to wear cool underpants!

They are soft and dry.
