place on mount Lamlam because it's
elevation is high enough so that the soil
is not completely clay or not full of
salt from the Pacific Ocean. Some
rice farms lie at the base of the
mountain so that the runoff from the
rain floods the fields for them.

because the rice farms tend to be
larger than the banana farms on the
mountain side. Rice farms are usually
about 4 acres each. Banana farms
tend to be closer to 1.5 acres
because it is harder to farm on a hill.
The Tano plantation is a Banana farm
on the east side of Mount Lamlam.
Tano plantation is not just bananas, it sells
wool from the sheep raised there. It is 3 acres
and takes up about 1/6 of the mountain.
Since machinery is not very helpful in the
production of bananas, the only machinery
used is to feed the sheep and shave them.
Fertilizers are used for the production of
bananas, however.
Since Tano plantation is under control
of the Tano family, the family in
charge of the southern oligarchy in
Coconut, it uses government funds to
pay for seeds and other expenses,
however, it is not subsidized because
the government has spent too much
money on military and industrial
production.
Most bananas stay local or within the eastern
Pacific, while the wool produced is sold to
countries all over the world. It does however
have fierce competition in this business, New
Zealand. The sheep are rarely used for meat
production, since the people of Coconut greatly
enjoy seafood more than land animals. Also, a
pescetarian diet is common among the people
of coconut.
The Tano plantation sells bananas and
wool to Japan and the Philippines.
Some wool is transported to Russia and
South Korea. Exotic fish is very
valuable to European countries willing
to buy them.
Since Farms are barely subsidized by the
government, they try to mass produce their
product in compensation of the small paycheck.
This, however, causes overproduction and
drives the price of the food down, making the
farming industry more difficult. The Abney party
in northern Coconut is looking to help subsidize
crops in the area so that this problem does not
occur as much.
Tano Plantation lies in the horticulture
ring of the Von Thunen model, even
though it has some sheep, this is
because bananas have a high
perishability and are not transported
outside of the country as much as the
wool is.
A very small amount of the country's economy
is based off of agriculture. Most agriculture in
Coconut is exotic fish farms and fishing boats.
The Tano and Abney parties do not focus much
on agriculture, but rather industrialization and
international trade
