There are many farms in Erieville but there
are two major ones.
One is in Newtown and the other is located
Hellertown.
They are on opposites sides of the island, so
everyone has easy access to food.

The Newtown farm is about 400 acres.
The Hellertown farm is only 350 acres.

They use shifting cultivation on the large
farms and the other farms are family
owned. The large farms are communal, so
everyone can use the land.

Due to the location of the farms, they will
use shifting cultivation. They practice this
type of farming because the climate is fit
for this farming. Machinery should be
used but they have trouble getting ahold of
any technology.

They will grow mainly the same crops
for majority of the year. Their cash
crops are coffee beans and tobacco.
The farms will not be subsidized by the
government because they sell to
MDC's.

When their crops are ready for export,
they ship them by plane or boat
depending on which country the crops
are traveling to.

The main targets are MDC's because
they have the climate to grow the crops
that MDC's can not. The MDC's also give
them machinery that they can use for
their smaller, subsistence farming.

The main concern for these farms is
the cash crops. Coffee beans and
tobacco are not food, so the villagers
are not getting the adequate nutrients
they need from these crops. We can
solve these problems are trying to
make corn or wheat our cash crop, but
climate may be a challenge in that
mission.

The farms would fall under the third ring,
crop rotation. Our farms deal with only
crops and no livestock so it would make
sense they are in crop rotation.

Our countries economy is based pretty
heavily off these farms. Without the
exports, our country would not have
enough money to import the
manufactured goods Erieville cant
produce.
