One day, in the winter, in the Krimml
Waterfalls in Austria, a family of one dad, one
mom, and one four year old girl came to see
the shimmering ice of the frozen falls. To their
mistake they went and looked down from the
top of the falls instead of the bottom, where a
certain four year old had a risk of slipping.

“Mother may I please sprint down the first part
of the frozen falls?” she said with big, hopeful
eyes. Oh yes, and one thing about this certain
little four year old: she was a genius.
Her mother looked at her with a kind but
startled look on her face. “Oh, dear, no. Why
would you want to do that?”

“Cuz. I think it’ll be fun.The speed be pretty fast,
but not too bad, because the frozen waterfall is
not that steep of a slope. I just want to go five
meters, and I predict it will take me about one
minute to go down, but it might take me three
minutes to come back up. My speed will be five
meters per minute. I will be moving at a fast
motion. The distance between me and the bottom
of the falls will get less as I go down. I will be in
motion, since the state in which one object's
distance from another is changing.”

Her mother was shocked at her genius
comment and replied, “Where did you learn all
this? How do you know about speed?”
“Oh, it’s easy. Speed is basically the distance an
object travel per unit of time.”she smiled widely.
“Please? I did the calculations in my head and
realized that there is only a 34.975% chance of
me falling based on my age, height, weight, and
average speed.”
“What?! What book did you memorize this
from? No, sweetie, we came here to be tourists,
not to fall on our faces.”

The little girl sucked on her thumb and her eyes
started to tear.
“Dear, we are only saying this to protect you,”
her dad said soothingly. He leaned over to her
mom and said, “We have to get this girl IQ
tested.”
One thing that neither parent knew about their
child is that she had a large sized temper issue
and was quick to show her anger. Depressed
and irritated that her parents would not let her
ride the falls, she grabbed her mom’s phone,
and walked up to the falls. Then, with all her
might, she threw the phone into the falls!

Both parents were horrified and shocked. “What!?”
they exclaimed at the exact same time. “What did
you just do? You threw Mom’s phone all the way
into the falls!?”
“Well,” the girl replied, “Her phone did not go
anywhere compared to its case. See, I just
compared Mom’s phone case to her phone.
Therefore, her phone case is the reference point in
relation to her phone. If you didn’t know, reference
point is the place/object used to compare, to
determine if an object is in motion.” Again, her
parents’ mouths dropped open. Then they said,
“That’s it. We’re going to the car.”

But the four-year-old crept back to the
waterfalls, and her mother sighed. “Oh all right.
I think I have an idea. There are rocks which
we could use as separations for the parts of the
waterfall. You will jump from the lowest set of
rocks. That’s only 47 meters.”
The girl’s face was ecstatic! “Yay! Thank you so
much!”
Together, as a family, they trekked back to the
place where the girl was going to slide.
