This is a statue of Mandela.Chapter 1: Early Life
Mandela was born on July,18,1918 in Transkei.
Transkei was a land only for blacks.Apartheid
was meant to separate white people from
blacks. In class the teachers thought apartheid
was good.Nelson did not agree. He went to
other schools and became a lawyer. He he
helped many people fight for the unfair laws of
apartheid.
He Went to collge at fort hare.
This is Transkei where Nelson was born.
Chapter 2: ANC
In 1944 he joined the (ANC) African National
Congress. The ANC defends the rights of black
people.The ANC push the system of apartheid.
PAC was a group of people just like the ANC.
The South Africa's government wanted to ban
the ANC and PAC. They had to work secretly.
The ANC choose Mandela to lead a secret wing.
The laws of apartheid grew stricter giving ANC
trouble.

This is Mandela and our Rand currency.Chapter 3 : Jail
The South African government put Mandela and other
people in jail for 28 years. Mandela secretly wrote a
book called The Long Walk to Freedom. A few days
later the book was discovered. A few years later he
moved to pollsmoor prison. The guards let mandela
create a roof top garden. He later moved to Victer
vester prison. Mandela was released on February
11,1990. A statue of Mandela stands
there till today.

Chapter 4: Old Age
F.W.DE Klerk agreed to end apartheid.
Mandela was president for 4 years. DE klerk lost in the
election. The ANC later joined the government. Later
Mandela died on DEC, 6, 2013 .He was buried in
Johannesburg. Mandela is just like Martin Luther King.
He also won a noble piece prize just like Martin.
