This is a diagram of the carbon 

cycle. I know it looks confusing, 

but this book will explain 

everything you need to know 

about it. 

Before we get started, lets meet the 

curious guys who want to learn about the 

carbon cycle.

Here we have the brothers Sam and Dean 

Winchester and their loyal friend 

Castiel or Cass for short. Also, their 

not so great friend Crowley.

Every living thing on Earth 

is made up of carbon...including

Sam, Dean and the plants.

Carbon atoms are constantly on 

the move, being used by both

plants and the Winchesters.

Every day when the guys eat, they 

are taking in carbon that has been 

eaten by the animals they eat, or 

taken in by the plants they eat.

Carbon leaves Sam's body 

everyday. When he breathes, he 

inhales oxygen and then exhales 

carbon dioxide.

This is great for plants because they 

need carbon dioxide to survive. Plants 

make their own food through 

photosynthesis and they need carbon to 

make that process happen.

When plants die, bacteria, fungi 

and other decomposers use the 

carbon that was in the plants to 

grow and multiply. However, if 

there is more carbon than the 

decomposers can use deposits 

such as coal and oil are formed.
