It started in Russia, years ago,
When society seemed to lose its flow.
They were involved in a horrific war
That was starting to cause way too much gore.
The workers and soldiers made a covenant
That they would overthrow the government.
To heal their country's suffering scar,
They decided to get rid of the terrible czar.

It all started on March the eighth,
But it took a great amount of faith.
Many shoes created a beat
As the protesters took to marching the street.
The protesters, who were very mad,
Were on their way to Petrograd.
They came from everywhere, all around
Chanting, "Let's remove the crown!"

The czar wanted to end this dispute,
So he ordered the police to shoot, shoot, shoot.
As they began to open fire
Their situation became quite dire.
Soon their protest took a turn for the worse
Some of the wounded would need to be nursed.
Every street and alley was painted bright red
By all the new blood that had been shed.

But the very next day they were surprised
They couldn’t make sense of the change of
tides
The police had seemed to join their side.
Had they finally seen eye to eye?
The men who had shot at them the day before
Now could help them settle the score.
They could ultimately get the job done
and leave the royal family stunned.

On that day they were victorious
Which gave them a feeling all so glorious.
They had the strong and mighty nerve
to fight for what they knew they deserved.
Everything that they had fought so hard for
was definitely worth the unimaginable chore.
The protesters heartily celebrated
for now they had been liberated.

That was the end of the czarist government
and now there was room for more improvement.
The royal family gave up their power
and traded it for a life quite sour.
Living among the people was not how they expected.
They could not believe how they were disrespected.
The royals thought this was where they would stay,
but that’s not how Russians like to play.

During that long and blistering summer,
Came quite the depressing and sorrowful
bummer.
The family took one last picture before
They were murdered and blood had stained the
floor.
The people who did this were gaining power
More and more by each passing hour.
But what was about to happen next
Could only become much more complex.

Later that fall, in a chilling November,
Things kept fueling the burning embers.
Three groups were struggling for authority
Each with very different priorities.
Bolsheviks take over the government,
But will not tolerate anyone to think different.
The remainder of Russia doesn’t agree with
this
So everything once more goes amiss.
